I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic firmware from v40.0.005 to v50.0.005. The update is available from 19th April I think and I’ve been trying to download it for the past few days via FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) using Maxis 3G data package but the phone always shows connection error. My desktop was not around for me to try updating it from Nokia PC Suite Software Updater until today and it works just fine.
Weird, why does the software updater stated 157.2MB instead of 11MB (phone)?
From my online research, some users complaint that not all countries support this update. So I would suggest to try to connect your phone to the Nokia PC software instead of updating it by using phone data packet.

How to update:
FOTA (through phone)
- Press *#0000* from the dial menu. Click Option and Check for Updates.
NSU (Nokia Software Updater)
- Make sure your PC Nokia softwares are updated to the current version.
- Just plug in the phone through USB port and look for Software Updater application.
Personal review
- I like the Music Player interface very much. They have replaced ‘Exit’ button to ‘Hide’. Very much like N97.
- Touch screen vibration has been improvised (I feel it that way.. girls would love that :P)
- Communities, an application for Facebook and Twitter for Nokia need a new update before it can be used.
