Eh I noticed this while blog hopping. Ever wonder why others have thumbnails when leaving comments at Wordpress blogs and yours not? Maybe you would like to consider a service from Gravatar. It’s not a problem if you’re a Wordpress user as they have it installed automatically but if you’re a Blogspot user like me, you will have to do it manually. Ah what is Gravatar actually eh?
Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums. – taken from Gravatar main site.
Gravatar plugins are available for popular blogging software; when the user posts a comment on such a blog that requires an e-mail address, the blogging software checks whether that email address has an associated avatar at Gravatar. If so, the Gravatar is shown along with the comment. – from Wiki.
Well I don’t know if we have other service such as this but so far Gravatar is the most popular one. So get your own Gravatar now. Just give your email address oni, that’s all! ☺
Done with Gravatar, and here I just want to state my stand on an issue: Blogspot or Wordpress.
There are some fights started by few bloggers about this. Why must we choose Wordpress and why not Blogspot. Some say if you want to be a great blogger, go with Wordpress. And they even curse those who still using Blogspot and will not visit the blogs.
Come on la, not all become bloggers want to be famous. Not all blog to get side income. Not all blog to get super traffic in. Some of us blog just to share things among ourselves, that is to our friends. Maybe because we are so used to live within close friends and families we didn’t see this making any sense, but what about people who live abroad, those who can’t contact each other because of the long distance and time zone difference? Making a diary online is one way to solve that, although the word diary typically resembles something personal and can be shared only to oneself. Oh wait, why not just IM? Facebook? Think hard again, and you’ll know.
Over Wordpress and Blogspot matter, it’s up to them la which one should they choose. Both have their own pros and cons. Wordpress is good for having many plugins but the interface is not so user friendly, that is why people look for alternatives such as Blogspot. Being a noob myself, I choose Blogspot over Wordpress simply because it’s easier to make a blog rather than clicking here and there to set up one at Wordpress. So what if I’m a noob? You want to kill me?
Oh yes I am offended over such stupid comments. What if they choose other blogging platform like Xanga, TypePad, LiveJournal, Posterous, Tumblr etc? You won’t visit them just because of that? Aiyoo..
