Free Broadband

Thanks to Digi Pimp My Broadband contest, I won a USB modem and 3 months of free subscription to Digi Broadband. 30th place, I think those that joined will surely win, with or without votes lol. The package arrived yesterday morning and since I got nothing to do, my bro and I went to Digi Centre USJ to activate the service. Surprisingly the staff have no idea about the contest and they spent almost 1 hour calling to confirm, I guess.

I don’t blame them as some I think are only part timers (from their chit chat) so the blame would probably goes to Digi main branch. A simple email about the contest would do to notify the customer service all over Malaysia, I mean send je la email paling susah pun, takkan la the people working behind the counters at a telecommunication company tak check their email, at least their manager should read it right? And it’s almost a month since they announced the winners. Takpe la, I’m not rushing anyway so it’s ok.

I got the RM58 Discover package, I think. The basic one. Forgot to ask them about this. The speed is super fast, ran some download and upload test at Speednet but I don’t think I get the max speed at that time.

Edit: I got the RM108 package with 10gb usage limit.

But speed is not everything my friend. What’s more important to me is stability. That’s all that matters. What’s the point of downloading a 700mb file at 892kbps, you have 5% more to finish but suddenly the line got disconnected and you lost the 95% content you already downloaded. Apa aku merapu ni.. but you get what I mean right? I always get Edge instead of HSDPA. My Maxis broadband is a lot better at this.

Edit: To kick out Edge, see here.

Ok maybe the service is not for downloading purpose, nama pun mobile internet: used only when you’re outside, doing light surfing (IM, Facebook etc).

Wired connections are still the best. I still love Streamyx despite the curses people throw at them. What potong potong? All I hear are complains, no praise at all. I am grateful for the freebies from Digi but as a service provider, you guys have a lot to improve. Digi USJ customer service is ok, but not here and here (during the super cheap Digi promotion at 1 Utama). I have 3 months to survey, we’ll see if shifting to Digi is really a smart choice.
